12AA. Aerodrome Way Industrial Estate, Rectory Hartlands, London Borough of Hounslow Located on the roadway leading in to the industrial estate are four British Steel 5 m tubular steel hockey stick columns, all of which support ELECO GR 501 lanterns, for 35 - 55 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. With the installations being in private ownership, their maintenance regime may be more limited in comparison to lighting on a public road would be, although this does increase their chances of survival somewhat.
The first of the two installations pictured is the first from Cranford Lane.
The detector for a Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell is visible on the lantern's canopy.
The lantern fitted to the second column is missing its bowl.
The lamp remains intact within the lantern, however.
The same installation, pictured from the footway behind.
The close-up reveals that the lamp is a rather worn Philips type.
