134AB. Coopersale Common, Coopersale, Epping, Essex With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Installed on the rural section of the road, just south of the junction for Epping Road, are two 15 ft (5 m) 'Utility Major' concrete columns, made by Concrete Utilities. Both are equipped with swan neck brackets and CU's own P282 lanterns, for 35 W SOX lamps.

Both installations are in good condition, although the original 'drop-latch' lock has failed on this column, resulting in a cable tie being used to secure the door to the column.

The circular profile of the Utility Major column is continued into the swan neck bracket, giving the design a slightly more graceful appearance than is seen with more angular column designs.

The P282 itself, however, is an especially angular lantern, with the integral lamp control gear contributing to the canopy's distinctive appearance.

The other column is a little further along the road, and is identical in appearance.

When the lantern was drilled to accommodate a Telesna radio node for controlling the lantern, the original Zodion SS55 two-part photocell detector was retained (albeit, disconnected).

With the lanterns being situated beneath trees, their insides are rather grubby.
