209G. Well Road, Outwell, Norfolk Attached to a wooden pole on this main road through the village is a CU Phosco P236 lantern, for 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. Curiously, the cables emerging from the end of the pole bracket are not connected to anything, meaning that the lantern is not in operation, but Google Street View provides the answer - back in September 2021, contractors were pictured replacing the pole, and so I assume that the supply to the light was never restored after this - surprisingly, the existing bracket was re-used, rather than a new one installed too. Prior to the replacement, a dim green glow was visible through the bowl, confirming that the lantern still ran a mercury lamp.
The old pole bracket and lantern look rather out-of-place on the new pole.
A length of cable has been left coiled up at the end of the bracket, for connecting into the enclosure above it, which will house the fused cut-out.
The lantern does not appear to be attached quite correctly to the bracket, given that it is pointing downwards.
