214D. Mayfield Road, Rotherfield, Wealden, East Sussex With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to a 5 m tubular steel column by means of a swan neck bracket is an AC Ford AC 888 top-entry lantern, designed for running 80 - 125 Watt mercury vapour (MBF) lamps, although this example has been adapted to run a compact fluorescent lamp instead. A second, previously identical installation further down the road had had its AC 888 replaced with an LED lantern by the time that these images were taken in June 2024.

The column features an embellishment kit around the base section.

The swan neck bracket is likely to be an AC Ford product too.

Unusually for an installation that probably dates from the 1990s, the AC 888 uses a glass bowl - by then, polycarbonate bowls were much more commonplace.

Sadly, the bowl is cracked along a portion of its underside, extending up the side.
