222D. Chantry Road, Shalford, Chilworth, Guildford, Surrey With thanks to Louis Cunningham for informing me of this Survivor. Installed towards the end of this private cul-de-sac is a single 10 ft (3 m) Stewarts & Lloyds tubular steel column supporting a GEC Z8591 lantern, for an 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp. The Z8591 is something of the forerunner to the Z8896, which, although similar in appearance, is a slightly different shape, and employs a prismatic glass refractor bowl, compared to plastic, as used in the Z8896. The Z8596 is another lantern of similar appearance, which was also superseded, ultimately, by the Z8896.

The column's relatively short height is assisted by the use of a tall bracket, taking the overall height to approximately 15 ft (5 m).

The bracket seems to have tilted the lantern quite severely, although this is only because of the angle at which the lantern is being viewed.

The lowest point of the bowl has a small amount of detritus gathered in it.

The detector for a Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell is installed on the other side of the canopy.
