Victoria Viaduct, Caldewgate, Carlisle, Cumberland, Cumbria Attached to an ornate plinth column on the viaduct itself is a Thorn 'SONPak' OT 70.4 floodlight, which is positioned to provide illumination over an adjacent flight of stairs leading to Bush Brow; presumably, when the Victorian-style globe lighting was introduced to the viaduct in the 1980s or early 1990s, the amount of illumination produced was found to be insufficient, requiring the addition of the floodlight to provide direct lighting to this area.

The polycarbonate glazing to both the globe lantern, as well as on the SONPak itself, is quite noticeably discoloured.

The SONPak received a slight modification, probably during installation - a Royce Thompson ER6N photocell has been added to the floodlight body to allow it to operate automatically. Visible beneath the floodlight is the detector for a two-part photocell, which will control the globe lantern.
