Off Howard Street, Greenfields, Shrewsbury, Shropshire Installed in the car park for the adjacent railway station are two 5 m Fabrikat tubular steel columns, likely to date from the 1980s, and still supporting GEC Z5670-series post-top lanterns, which may be the original lanterns that were fitted. Time for these two columns could soon be up, however, as both are in poor structural condition, with both exhibiting signs of heavy corrosion at ground level - one of which features a dreaded "hole of doom" in its steelwork. The lamp types and wattages employed in these lanterns is unknown, although as a lamp support for a 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp looks to exist in one, they could be Z5678s.

The first column seen when entering the car park has a slight lean to it.

A Royce Thompson P5 photocell survives on the lantern's canopy; this could well be the one and only photocell that this lantern has ever used...ZCells, kindly take note!

The base section, complete with its corrosion hole. Just to confirm that I have reported this defect to Transport for Wales (the car park's operator) with the suggestion that both columns would benefit from immediate replacement, owing to this advanced level of rusting.

The second column is positioned alongside one of the former pay station areas. Its base is in a rather sorry-looking state too.

This lantern didn't look to have a photocell control of its own. Assuming that this hasn't simply gone missing, the photocell on the first lantern is probably wired to switch both lanterns.
