Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract - Monk Street, City Centre

The existing lighting consisted of the following items in 1997. Since these records were produced, Monk Street has been bisected due to the construction of the Derby Inner Ring Road; therefore, some of the equipment listed below may have been removed separately to the PFI scheme.

The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 27th November and Sunday, 28th November 2010.

1980s' Thorn Beta 2 lanterns were fitted to the outgoing columns. This first example ended its days without a bowl attached.

A 'PFI Specification' column supporting a WRTL Arc lantern was installed some time after 2008. The previous column also supported a Beta 2, and its original inspection door had disappeared; resulting in an ill-fitting replacement door being fitted and secured using cable ties.
