Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract

Sunnydale Park, Littleover

The lighting along the main footpath passing through the park consisted of 5 m mid-hinged Fabrikat columns supporting 1990s' Thorn Gamma 6 35 Watt SOX post-top lanterns. The inventory records below date from 1997, though the majority of the lighting along the footpath is unchanged since these were last used officially.

The following photographs were taken on Tuesday, 2nd May 2017.

The first column from Rosamond's Ride (this is the correct spelling) appeared slightly shorter than the rest did, although this could be an optical illusion.

The lighting continues for much of the footpath.

A Sirebeck S300 photocell is fitted to the lantern in the foreground. Given that these installations are likely to date from the mid-1990s, the S300N could be the original photocell.

Looking the other way, we see that a replacement column has been installed at one of the positions.

The new PFI-specification column supports a Philips 'Iridium' SGS 252 running a 45 Watt CPO-TW lamp. A Royce Thompson SC1000/SAV 35 Lux photocell operates the lantern.

A small crack was visible in this Gamma 6's bowl.
