The ESLA in Winter 2009

The first few days of February saw many parts of the UK under a blanket of snow; described by some as being the heaviest snowfall for eighteen years. Of course the ESLA soldiered on as usual throughout this period, and naturally was photographed during the bad weather.

The first couple of photographs were taken on Monday, 2nd February. Notice how the heat from the lamp has made 'light' work of melting the snow gathered on the canopy! I described these two separate lengths as resembling 'double Mohican' haircuts!

 

Another snowfall occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 5th - this was significantly heavier than the one on Monday and caused considerable disruption across Derbyshire - almost 300 schools were closed across the County and many other events were cancelled.
