Vanity strikes as some daft eejit (complete with regulation Victoria line-coloured shirt) asks to be pictured ‘looking important’ in the cab. (Watch where you’re going, lad!)

The door controls are located adjacent the droplight windows in the cab. The 1967 Stock trains do not have side cab doors, due to planning stage concerns over driver safety with trains that can effectively drive themselves. The manually-driven 1972 Stock trains share this feature, as there was not time to alter the cab design when new trains were required for the Northern line. The amber indicator lamp on the left indicates the presence of ATO codes (when applicable); the adjacent blue indicator lamp is the ‘pilot’ lamp, which will only illuminate if all doors are closed. If this lamp is not illuminated, the train cannot move.

The left-hand rear wall of the cab contains the telephone handset that acts as the cab-to-cab radio, Public Address and ‘Assist Train Accept’.

Located in the ceiling, also on the left-hand side of the cab, is the ‘Identra’ Destination Switch.

Seeing the area around the doors completely void of passengers just does not look right!

Comparison of the external appearance of the refurbished and un-refurbished cabs.  Only the left-hand cab would be able to form the front of a train in passenger service. Don’t you just hate the way that glass has a habit of reflecting objects!
