Originally, the trains were only supplied with a single windscreen wiper that rotated through 90 degrees on the driver"s window. The pivot was located just above the top-right corner of this window. The filled-in hole that was left when the double (and significantly more effective) wipers were added can still be seen.
Various isolating cocks surrounded the left-hand tail light, with the Tripcock Isolating Cock (sometimes accompanied with the abbreviation "TCIC") being uppermost.
