A Stock Farewell Tour Gallery 3

One of the later modifications to the A Stock fleet was the addition of covers fitted over the windscreen wiper connectors, in order to improve the reliability of the wipers.

A special tour for the 50-year-old A Stock trains.

The 1960s" vintage of the trains is apparent in the clean design lines of the rail that assisted in boarding / alighting the cab from track level.

The A Stock was the last train to feature separate controls for motoring and braking - all subsequent stocks rely on a Combined Traction and Brake Controller.

Looking up reveals some of the cables and pipes that have been added to the train over the years.

Duplicate door controls are provided on the back wall of the driving cab. The older, recessed buttons above these control the saloon heating.

The trains employed an electronic parking brake in later years, but are likely to have had a manually-operated parking brake when new.

Various cables and an air hose can be seen linking individual cars.

The abbreviation "TL" can just be seen above the air hose - this stands for "Train Line".
