A Stock Farewell Tour
On Saturday, 29th September 2012, a special tour to commemorate over fifty years’ service of the outgoing A Stock trains occurred. By this date, these veteran trains had already been withdrawn from public service; the final "normal" operation being on Wednesday, 26th September. The tour commenced in one of the two bay platforms at Moorgate, and visited all of the Metropolitan line’s many terminal stations. The Watford branch was covered first, followed by Chesham (using the Watford North Curve), reversal at Harrow-on-the-Hill for Amersham, later reversing again for Uxbridge and then travelling the lengthy distance to Aldgate, before heading to Wembley Park for the train’s (empty) journey into Neasden Depot.
