East London line car diagram - 1990s’

The East London line was first depicted in orange in 1990 - previously it had been depicted as being part of the Metropolitan line, as seen on my pre-1990 District line diagram. Whilst Canada Water had still not been constructed at this time, ‘Surrey Docks’ station is now ‘Surrey Quays’ (the name change occurred in 1989). The pre-1981 Central line diagram can be seen above this diagram - it is interesting to compare the differences in the styles of the two layouts.

This diagram also includes a map of the Central area - notice that both the Docklands Light Railway to Bank station, and the DLR station at Canary Wharf are still shown as being ‘Under Construction’ - both opened in 1991. This allows the diagram to be fairly accurately dated.
