A Stock Farewell Tour Gallery 2

A rather gloomy interior at Harrow-on-the-Hill. We were reversing here for our journey to Amersham after having travelled from Chesham.

The blanked-off section visible here originally housed the Guard"s panel for operating the doors on this side of the train. Although the A Stock trains were converted to One-Person-Operation in the 1980s (and the panels blanked off at the same time), it wasn"t until the trains were refurbished in the 1990s that the associated cabling was finally removed.

The semi-recessed lamps located above each interconnecting door would illuminate upon activation of a Passenger Emergency Alarm, allowing the location of the alarm activation to be quickly identified.

Speaking of the interconnecting doors, this is what lies between them! Five substantially-sized screws secure the tread plates to the floor.

One of the rugged Charles Holden-designed platform seats at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

A glance inside the converted middle cab of our train.

An old train in a modern landscape.

A commemorative headboard was affixed to either end of the train, using the old tail lamp bracket for support.

The train was held at Amersham for a short time while everyone had a bite to eat!

I"m watching you...
