Local Thorn Isaro Pro Ms

The Isaro Pro M, the 'Medium' version of this lantern, made its first appearance in Derbyshire in early 2019, with examples being retro-fitted to existing 10 m columns (or fitted to new columns where the existing column was in poor condition) on the A6005 to the east of Breaston and west of Long Eaton. Since then, the lantern has gained far more widespread use on main roads throughout the County.

This post-top-mounted example is fitted to a new column. Previously, another tubular steel column with a WRTL Arc 150 Watt SON-T lantern (mounted side-entry) was situated here.

As with the Civiteq Large, the Isaro Pro M features an elongated front section, in order to accommodate a second circuit board of LEDs. A Zodion ZCell photocell rated at 20 Lux provides the lantern's automatic switching.

This side-entry version was a direct replacement for a Philips MA 50 135 Watt SOX lantern with integral lamp control gear.

The two circuit boards accommodate 24 LEDs each, bringing the total to...mathematicians, if you would do the honours, please...48 LEDs! The identity label towards the back of the lantern provides the following information:

T = Thorn

87 = Wattage

M2 = Lighting Class

The lack of an 'N' suffix after this code suggests that the lantern has automatic dimming enabled, with output reducing to 75 % after 21:30, and to 50 % after midnight, until 05:00, when it will return to 75 %, and then back up to 100 % after 06:00, if required.

This 87 Watt example is one that replaced a number of Thorn Pilote T2 150 Watt SON-T lanterns in September 2020.
